I could not think of a better way to honor Sawyer today than to do something adventurous with the kid who is the closest person I have to a little brother.
I may have never met you, Sawyer, but your memory has certainly made an impact on my life. You are my extra dose of strength when I don’t have enough, and my constant reminder to be outrageous and true to myself.
I am beginning to understand why the Plan of Salvation is also called the Plan of Happiness. The thought of Sawyer and his family one day being reunited is the most beautiful hope. I anxiously await that day.
But for now, we carry Sawyer with us, through our bracelets, and in our hearts.

Yes, there’s the obvious ones but there are small, subtle ones too. I remember being in the grocery store (why are so many stories set in the grocery store?) and passing the frozen burrito aisle. Sawyer was the only one who would eat those single serve beef and jalapeño burritos in the frozen section. Understandably, they are not good. As I passed by them I had the thought, “I guess I’ll never buy those again,” and I cried. Over a burrito that was $.89 and not good to begin with, but it was my enemy in that moment. To be clear, it wasn’t the first nor the only time I cried in a grocery store. Once I finally got the courage to leave my house (whole other story) I wore sunglasses inside stores for months. From liftoff at Roanoke to departure from Heathrow, Sawyer accompanied me throughout my trip to London: train and tube rides, Borough Market, Tate Modern, Millennial Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, a tea room and a pub, a concert at the Palladium, the aerodrome in Surrey, hiking and a pub lunch in Kent, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Little Venice's canal walk, Bletchley Park, a curry in Soho and ice cream and a street performance in Covent Garden. My friend  Rica 's home-cooked dinners, chocolate chip cookies, apple cake and lemon drizzle cake. Comfortable time with her family in her beautiful home. Sawyer was with me for it all. Strong, yes! You should've seen me lugging my suitcase up and down the tube station stairs. Outrageous, check! Solo travel is exhilarating. You/me, you bet! There was music, pizza, Pokémon, conversation, coffee, beer, grocery stores, inspiration, puddings and wonder. #mysawyerbracelet
