October 28 2017 Sawyer's Friends at his One Year Mark Rose Memorial

Only a few children were invited to attend to represent the entire grade, though I know if the school had opened it up, so many of his friends would've attended. But it is a tough thing and they limited it for the emotions and crowd control, and I understand. These were some of his closest friends and they all came sporting their bracelets and favorite colors of Sawyer: orange and pink. We got cards from probably 100 children.
These kids talked about how they saved a seat for Sawyer at their table the entire school year after he died and left it empty in his honor. They also built a memorial to him in the woods by the playground and made a heart out of clay and placed flowers they had picked on it. There is no way to know all the wonderful things these and other children have done to honor and remember Sawyer and I will always be so very, very grateful to them and their parents.
